Receipe : Singapore Style Tiramisu (No Baking Required)

Another lazy shortcut receipe. Singapore Style Cheesecake without baking required.
I was dardar assistant for the whole day and simply loves this easy receipe. Only took an hour to complete and no fuss. Besides tin we also made tiramisu into small container so that we would not gain weight :D

Ingredients:
1) 4 eggs
2) 500g Mascarpone cheese (Can use Philadelphia but I think Mascarpone better)
3) 125g caster sugar or around 1/2 caster sugar
4) 300g Marie Biscuits
5) 1 cup strong Kopi O Kosong / plain black coffee
6) 4cl of smooth cognac ( I use Gordon Bleu)
7) Little Milo powder / Cocoa powder

Steps:
1) Separate eggs into egg white and yolk. Whisk Egg yolk first
2) Add in Mascarpone cheese into mixture and blend well
3) Whisk egg white until stiff peaks form. Add in sugar gradually and blend till obtain a rich creamy texture
4) Add the above mixture (sugar + egg white) to the Mascarpone cheese blend
5) Prepare Kopi O Kosong / plain black coffee
6) Very quickly dip biscuits into coffee and line into base of cake tin with these biscuit, top it off with cheese mixture
7) Add another layer of dipped biscuits on top of cheese mixture and top it off with another layer of cheese for 2 to 3 layers.
8) Finish with a layer of cheese and disperse milo powder / cocoa powder over the last layer
9) Refrigerate for at least 6 hours but preferably overnight

The reason why I am putting in all the receipe is that I am trying to clear up my rooms .. too many paper sitting everywhere..

So here's the 1st one I made for my sis Bday in Jan this year..Sorry I really too lazy to update :)

Ingredients :
1) 2 cups (250g) sweet biscuit crumbs ( I use digestive biscuits)
2) 125g butter, melted
3) 100g packet marshmallows ( Just don't trouble urself..use a single pack )
4) 1 teaspoon gelatine
5) 1/4 cup milk
6) 1/4 teaspoon strawsberry essence ( I use apple green essence)
7) 2/3 cup thickened cream
8) 250g punnet strawsberry, halved ( I think as u liked)
9) 2 x 100g packets strawsberry jelly
10) 2 cups boiling water

Steps:
1) Grease a 19cm x 19cm pan ( I use a round pan as shown in photo)
2) Combine biscuits and butter in a bowl. Press evenly over base of prepared pan. Refrigerate until firm
3) Combine marshmallows, gelatine and milk in a saucepan. Stir over low heat without boiling until marshmallows are melted. Meanwhile add in essence too
4) Transfer to large bowl and cool to room temperature
5) Whip cream until soft peaks form, fold into marshmallow mixture, then pour over base
6) Place strawsberries over marshmallow and refrigerate mixture for around 3omins
7) Dissolve jelly in boiling water and cool to room temperature
8) Pour jelly over strawsberries + marshmallow pan.
9) Refrigerate until firm .. then decorate :D

Enjoy making delicious cake without baking :)

A cool place to rest our feet on a restless Saturday in Keong Saik Road. Dardar shouted when we entered the bookstore cum cafe "There's a chef in the store ...What his name? ... Appeared on TV variety Star Chef before ...Then I later realised that is Edward Voon browsing on the books! Impressive sleek interior decoration especially the kitchen that we can peek thru.

The legendery bake of the day - Grilled Butter Cake and Lemon Mint Soda. Mmmmm grilled butter cake by panini grill. Loves the crisp brownish skin and lightly butter scent.

What have amazed and touched me is that she have traveled from a long distance to Singapore and many places to hug hundreds and thousands of strangers. Many people have queued and waited for hours and for me, thanks to my dear Amy, I waited for a few hours only. It was definitely worth the waiting.

Darshan, the Embrace when spiritual leader Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (or Amma),hugs her followers from all around the globe (many westerner followers as well). I do not know what Amma can actually help me but when she hug me and bless me, my feeling was so intense that I feel like hugging a very close family member.

Keyboard More Dirty Than Toilet Seat

This is my new toy bought to clean up the computer keyboard. According to the findings of the study conducted by the University of Arizona and reported on the BBC website, the average desktop computer carried 400 times more bacteria than the average toilet seat.
Though very slimy but very useful to clean the keyboard. Just roll , squeeze and press it into the crevices between the keys. It pick up the dirt and dust and most importantly is not sticky after cleaning. Useful tools !!

Movie Marathon

Movie marathon recently .. since finally got a break from work. Today watched "Hotel For Dogs" and yesterday night have watched "Marley & Me" with 小馬哥.

WOW! All related with my loves ... dogs ♥

My Loves
1) Smart looking Jack Russell Terrier "Friday" who loves to eat and can smell a hotdog 200yards away. He got "the nose knows" capability.

2) Weird pair Lenny & Georgia a tiny Boston Terrier who sees lenny as a bodyguard. She a happy fetcher.

3) Cooper a funny lovable goof who loves to chew .. shoes , carplate ... etc

In actually fact, all the pups are so lovable. I've reserved the book "Marley & Me" before it arrive in Kinokuniya and once started a few pages. At least must managed to grab the movie before it ends. I cry at the last part of the show when Marley was getting ill and weak and she was resting under the tree not wanting to move into the house.
I brought mimi home when she was a puppy and out of the group she was the most timid and quiet. Luckily she not like Marley - the world’s worst dog. But I think even the worst dog will still stand by ur side if you care for them. I thinking how can I bear to let my best friend goes when she grow older and weaker. I was crying when she stay weak on the bed in the vet clinic. Can't sleep and missing her when she was in the hospital. Even till now when she vomitted every week .. I would called Dr Prakash to inform her. ♥♥ Mimi is my BEST FRIEND ♥♥

Dinner at my favourite vegetarian place in Suntec - Loving Hut. Have been there many times without realising they are serving only vegetarian. I ordered my favourite Silky Tofu Mushroom Set and Sweet Sour Nuggets Set that comes with brown rice and soup. Delicious food of reasonable pricing.

Had lunch with Angelia and Carline at Kotobuki @ Shenton Way before the training started . Meet angelia with her Hakushika taru sake and our new friend Carline. I wondered why my friend, drunken dragon can always drink no matter it is in the afternoon or night :)
Here comes our chicken katso curry and ten zaru soba.

Meet 小馬哥 and saw event by St. Games @Novena Square. Both adults and kids busy playing with games in the roadshow. Very entertaining to see the rock band played by the crews and customers.
First time come across a video gaming cafe that comes with Playstation 3, XBOX 360, Wii. Sounds fun and interesting. http://www.gaminghow.com/cafe/
Followed by dinner in Ayam Penyet Ria in Square 2. Though crowded, we managed to get a seat fast and so was our food.
Delicious ayam penyet and kerupuk udang & emping (prawn crackers). They have quite a few branches in Singapore ... I remembered eating this in tampinese mall sometime back.

HELLO KITTY Fan

I am not a Hello Kitty Fan .. Really! But ever since MAC launched the new limited edition M.A.C Hello Kitty Collection in collaboration with SANRIO ... it is just so fabulous and I want to collect everything.

I bought the brush collection and soft black pleather 8" Hello Kitty doll in a 60’s style black & white dress with pink trim and iconic pink bow . Most of the items were already sold out when I hit the stores.
A black plastic brush holder in the shape of a Hello Kitty head complete with her iconic pink bow with basic set of brushes for face and eyes.
As I stress myself again, I AM REALLY NOT A FAN OF HELLO KITTY! But somehow 小馬哥and his kaki were all busy collecting until Mr Stress Johnson could also tell which kitty he be getting by feeling the black plastic wrapping. (He collecting this gift for his wife named "KITTY")
Wth the help from all kaki, I managed to collect all except fortune kitty. I WANT THE FORTUNE KITTY !!!

The comes with pen or container that you can use to store small items. Cute and useful aren't they :)

Watched the cartoon "The Tale Of Despereaux" with Dardar and a cinema full of kids (school holiday) in Orchard Cineleisure. Being the Story of a Mouse, a Princess, Some Soup, and a Spool of Thread. Cute mouse versus Ugly rat ..

Lunch at Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe. Nice wallpaper
No appetite so I ordered instant noodle topped with radish egg and pork floss . Dardar french toast served with butter and drizzled with lots of maple syrup. SWEET !!

Nail Art: Gel Nails + Colorful Rainbow

Can't believe that actually my previously gel nail done have lasted for 3 weeks exactly and in fact is still nice and beautiful (Just that I am sick of the design). This time I have choose to draw with acrylic flowers of pink and white colors on my gel nails. ♥ So Sweet :)
As for the toe nail design, this time Esther tried something different. Colorful rainbow with smiling cloud and blue pokka dots ribbon on the other nails. Is really bright and cheerful to see the cute designs. Am I too old for these .. NO ... I DON'T CARE ... JUST LOVE IT !! ♥♥

I Am A Glutton

Can't believe the amount of food we ate today .. is not me alone that glutton ..Dragon was around too with Pat for lunch in Din Tai Fung 鼎泰丰at paragon. We were waiting for Pat for at least an hour to come to Dragon house before we can leave house for lunch. (She staying one floor above Dragon).

2 hungry women = very angry women.
After lunch and some shopping in town, headed to Jim Thompson on Dempsey Hill. Just seems as if we are in some part of Thailand.
This place outdoor has an air of rustic charm, and indoor it is as luxurious, sophisticated and lavishly decorated.
The hall is filled with Jim Thompson's home collection furnishings. Nice housewares at the table in Jim Thompson. Dragon favourite - Taro balls in coconut milk. QQ taro balls but too sweet for me.
Pricey but delicious glutinous rice with mango. Not the best I have tried before though.
Lastly, we settled dinner cum supper in St. Regis Brasserie Les Saveurs. Service was really good and I supposed that the price should be expensive but reasonable for such tasty food. Mmmm !

Watched Academy Award Winner "Departures" with Dardar @ GV Tampines today. This film won the Best Foreign Language Film of the year. Such mixed feeling to watch this type of movie on a rainig day. I enjoyed the show very much though it was on the slower pace with lovely music and scenery.
I would say the movie is balanced between humor and wrenching emotional struggle in departures of the dead. Though in Singapore, wakes and funeral are very common but to see the rite of encoffinment is very rare. Just like the Japanese tea ritual, one that must be performed in perfection. The body is laid out covering with a white sheet and the deceased clothes are then removed to changed to burial clothes with then the makeup is applied. The whole process is prepared right in front of the family sitting and watching, as the one they loved is made to look alive once again before their eyes. At the final parting sending the dead on their way .. everything done peacefully and beautifully.

Life and death is a must process of everyone and there will always come a time when one departs. I've gone thru the birth and death of my loved one and will never forget the way it look when he departs. A movie thats definitely worth watching.

What's Granny Secret? A cafe nestled in OG @ Albert Street by Yikowei.
Interior was beautifully done up .
We ordered the five-fortune a sampling of - glutinous rice, yam cake, pumpkin cake, carrot cake and kueh pie tee that cost $11.80.
Would not say that it is very delicious, generally just simple food fare that is quite expensive and not exactly cheap with the GST and service charge added.

Meet up with Theresa at Paragon since we are there every now and then to trim our eyebrows. We went for tea at Bakerzin and is the first time dining in. It was her first time eating macaron and I ordered raspberry soufflé. Soufflé is a light, fluffy, baked dish made with egg yolks and beaten egg whites combined with various other ingredients and served as a savory main dish or sweetened as a dessert.

Bought 10 pieces of macarons from Bakerzin @ Northpoint. Since february promotion, only $1 nett per macaron instead of $1.60 so I grabbed all the favours home. (I know I very suaku and kiasu but is my 1st time taking it). 3 new favours: Sakura, Peach and Japanese Yuzu.
Feels like different favour macarons have different texture, some are hard and crispy while some crumbled easily. I loves the blueberry and sakura favour ♥

Nowadays is getting harder to take photo of mimi baby and the only possible time is during POO POO time ... Mimi routine before making her way to her grooming salon. I still remember that there was times when I sacrifice her poo poo time and she would just shit right infront of the shop before reaching the groomer. I had to clean up and just imaging how embrassing! No way that I will miss it even if I am late in bring her to Lulu salon.

Not much planning for the V Day. Only plan was to watch BREAKOUT @ Esplanade at 3pm today which the tickets were bought on early december. After surfing around, I think that this place shouldn't be too crowded on the V Day.

Vivo City With Dear Laura & National Geographic

Stepped into a very interesting mega shop "National Geographic" of 1500sqm in Vivo City. Feels like I am in a museum cum gallery rather than in a shopping mall. Look at the hugh entrance of the shop. They are selling stuffs ranging from books to apparel, explorer gears, jewellery, candles and photography equipment.....and much more. This is my favourite photo gallery ♥
There's a controlled freezing chamber in the shop whereby you can experience the simulation of extreme conditions encounter during expendition. The temperature reaches 15 Deg C with ventilator stimulating windchill and the thermo camera in the chamber provides radiometric thermographic temperature measurement of the body.

Finally met up with my dear laura after many times of rescheduling ... have known her since poly days. How I missed the fun we had skipping classes, working part time, clubbing ... It is not easy to remain in contact with all since our group are pretty big. She ordered ham and cheese sandwich. Seems delicious.
This is my favourite chicken baked rice from Terra Cafe ♥ Both branch in Vivo City and Bugis served tasty chicken baked rice.
I remembered dring poly days, our group of girls would always tease Laura by singing the song " Tell Laura I love Her" though this is a tragic story.

Red dot museum exhibits a large collection of contemporary design . The conservation building was built in 1928 as a police barrack. The building was refurbished in 2005 as a creative hub. It is named "red dot traffic" as recongition to the red dot design awards as well as the former occupant, the Singapore Traffic Police.

Though of going to the MAAD (Market Of Artists And Designers) since I saw the brochure previously. MAAD is the only weekend market for original creative works in the field of fashion, art, craft and design. I just can't stop thinking are there really a weekend market in the red building when I was making my way to the door. ♥ Night Flower was busy taking photos on the quiet street ♥ Come across this interesting stall that sells clay keychain and handphone accessories. The vendor is very friendly, she was explaining the name jestine can be written in this way that read the same if we rotate the paper. Dardar Jes was busy choosing birthday gift for her friend. I bought one too that she that be used as a chainkey + whistle for sis ♥
This part of the market attracted many people. Simply pose for 15mins and will be able to choose and purchase your own portrait drawn by professional or part time illustrators from OIC (Organisation Of Illustrators Council) at $8 each.

Dinner was great with 小馬哥! We found a nice small cafe "Little Part 1 Cafe" near Thomson Plaza. Too bad the indoor sitting was already fully packed so smoking corner for us. Did not take too much photos of the indoor cos Night Flower already started posing the moment we sat down.
Mine ... Organic Wakame Buckwheat Noodle with assorted mushrooms, pumpkin and wakame. Delicious ♥
小馬哥 ordered french garlic pork bratwarst brat served with mashed potate and salad. There's sweet corn in the mashed potate. Very delicious too♥

Finally met up with my dear friend Noreen for Dinner. She has been really busy and so I booked her in advance. I liked the revamped Sebawang Shopping Centre cos is not very crowded on weekdays. There's quite a few choices for dinner and only Astons Specialities have a long queue. I ordered the chargrill chicken with veg and whipped potate at $6.50 and her is crispy fried fish with baked beans and fries @ $7.20. (I kept snacking at her fries cos is really very tasty).

After dinner and shopping at my favourite shop Daiso we then headed to have a drink at Starbucks. Look at the size of steamed milk that she have ordered ... I need slimming very soon.

I often buy Dior collection as a gift for friends and myself. One reason is that it is always very exquisite and collectible and the other reason is that besides using the product, it can also double up as an accessory. Besides the Lady Dior, I have at least 5 others collectibles, can't bear to use ♥Her birthday coming in a few days and here comes the present. I've ordered inadvance Lady Dior Palette where she could use it for face, cheek highlighter and lip tint, or double up as an bag charm or keychain. ♥ Look how happy she is :)

After philatelic museum, hungry小馬哥wanted to eat. We walked to Funan DigitaLife Mall and ended up eating KFC. It was packed with people and upon closer looking, quite a few of them have drama makeup on them. Oh then I remembered, CHINGAY parade today! This year, the grandest and biggest opening with 13 Floats with 4000 performers from 40 local organisations,4 local international communities and cultural groups from 8 countries.

Dragging reluctant小馬, we found a good spot in the free areas barricaded with railings. Only 7.30pm already have many people "choping" the free areas. As my camera low on battery after working hard for these few days, I did not take much photos.

小馬哥also want to chope chope ... smoking corner :) He kept nagging why are we waiting so long, what time the parade start, which direction does the parade coming from, can we cross the road later during the parade.... Tons of questions

CNY Day 5 正月初五

正月初五俗称破五 : 说破五这一天不宜做事，否则本年内遇事破败。
破五习俗除了以上禁忌外，主要是送穷，迎财神，开市贸易。

Celebrating 五路财神生日 @ Loyang Tua Pek Kong. Went around 10.30pm with 小馬哥 and shocked to see the crowd at such a time. They have invited artist to dress as God of Fortune and gave blessing to the devotee. Is quite fun to see kiasu singaporean started queuing up and have to admit I am one of them too :)

There are so many places in the temple where the devotee can donate a small amount and the decorations are all scribbled with 4D number on it. Look at the amount of coil incense that are hung up and you will know how 旺this place is.
小馬哥 and my chinese zodiac. The snake is not as cute as the rabbit right ?? There are already tons of 4D numbers on the decoration. 小馬哥asked me for a pen to write his lucky number which I do not carry with me today and there he goes starting complaining. Then it struck me that I have a "MAC" lipstick that would finish soon ... so the most innovative 4D number wriiten with lipstick are ours ♥
Headed for supper at Changi for Nasi Lemak. There are many stalls there but this is the stall that we normally patronize. Simple food but very tasty :)

It was seldom so quiet at home. 小馬哥already bought the late nite movie tickets for INKHEART at The Cathay. Would say that this an interesting movie... A young girl discovers her father has an amazing talent to bring characters out of their books and must try to stop a freed villain from destroying them all.

I liked especially Gwin (The Martens). Though looked very cute but Martens are carnivorous animals related to wolverines, minks and weasels. Their diet consists of squirrels, mice, rabbits, birds, fish, insects, and eggs, and they will also eat fruit and nuts when these are readily available.

Ever since taken Popeyes Chicken & Biscuits in airport terminal 3, I missed it whenever I feel like eating fried chicken. I've been pestering 小馬哥to bring me go to Singapore Flyer to eat Popeyes Chicken. I am very disappointed cos they have already sold out the fried chicken at 9.45pm and though they are closing at 11pm. He told us that only burgers were available, out of no choice 小馬哥ordered chicken burger. (It seems like he wasn't willing to prepare anymore). DISAPPOINTING

River HongBao 2009 (春到河畔迎新年2009)

This year’s River HongBao at the floating platform in Marina Bay with the Singapore Flyer & Marina Barrage visible from the Platform is great. The pretty decorations & lightings plus night time are pretty cool contributed to the joyful trip.

I was busy tossing coin to the wishing well hoping to hear the 'ting' sound when it hit the bell (as usual very crowded with many many people tossing their coins).

HAPPY HAPPY, my coin hit the bell hanging with my wishes. As what the organiser hope, with the arrival of Year of the Ox the world financial situation would turn around and all losses would be turned to gains and all negatives to positives (“牛”转乾坤)!

CNY Day 3 初三 Mint Museum Of Toys

初三俗稱赤口，不宜拜年
Visited The Mint Museum of Toys with 小馬哥. Housed in a contemporary five-storey building is Mint (Moment of Imagination and Nostalgia with Toys) Museum of Toys is the world’s first purpose-built toy museum. Over 50,000 toy collection from 25 countries mainly exhibit toys from 50's to the 70's. Always wanted to go but the admission charges made me start thinking ... so happy that we went and received a 30% discount using OCBC credit card ♥ The tickets are very cute too right?
Here we go ... Starting from Level 5 walking our way down. I was really fascinated by huge collection of toys in the museum (I have taken around 150 photos in a museum of 5 storey, that's alot!) Level 4 are familiar characters. ♥My favourite Tintin, Tom & Jerry, Flintstones, Ultraman, Popeye, Batman & Robin, Astron Boy, Superman♥

Childhood favourites at Level 3. My favourite too .. Vintage Teddy Bears, Mickey & Minnie, Snow White, Betty Boo, Felix The Cats, Bonzo The Dog.
I used to draw hopscotch on the cement floor with chalk and now the kids can play on the hopscotch carpet instead. 小馬哥already relaxing on the couch while I am still browsing through and busy taking photos. This level is most special with the glass floor at the end of the room (after the couch), whereby you can stand on or just look down to see the ground floor of the museum. I am so afraid to stand on it.
Final collectables at Level 2. There are Beatles, vintage matchbox cars, snakes and ladder, colorful marbles, toys that I played when I was a kid. After the end of exhibits, part of the fun was shopping in Mint Shop. I only bought 4 bookmarks and they also comes in a set. 小馬哥bought the flying saucer and the blue and green paratrooper, he was saying 1 for himself, 1 for future 小baby and so I also choose 1 pink colour for myself (Family of 3). I think it be diffcult to buy and see future kids playing with my childhood toys.
Is really unique that the Mint Cafe is "underground". Though the cafe is small and near to the bar/kitchen but there is no unpleasant smell. The placemat used were so vintage and comes in a few designs. The colorful walls and display of old toys in the cafe made this place really special.

Here comes the food .. Just Wings at $9.80 and Hawaiian Pizza at $16.00. The chicken wing with sambal chilli is 小馬哥and my favourite food combination now (is my first time taking sambal chilli). With the 15% discount using credit card, the price is still affordable. If you visit the museum, maybe you will also receive a $5 meal voucher from them.
小馬哥always say I am still a kid at heart and true enough I really enjoy myself today and had tons of fun to be surrounded by so many toys (How I wish all the toys belong to me). Though the toys in the museum are old but they are in a well kept condition. So i going to start searching the storeroom for my old toy and who knows maybe it could fetch a very high price. Mint cafe is definitely a good quiet place to chill, I am going back for my sambal chilli soon ♥

This year as voted by all we decided to go across the causeway on Day 1 of Chinese New Year. OMG!! Can't believe my eyes that the queue in malaysia new CIQ nearly drove me to dump them and U-TURN immediately.

Went to the newly revamped Sembawang Shopping Centre (SSC) for my favourite store "Daiso". Dardar Jes was craving for waffle and so we ended up in MOF. This branch only sells dessert and beverage. There's Japanese Kanten jelly (made from the root part of the plant) at the bottom of the dessert. Understand from MOF note that there is slimming effects and it is also very healthy.

Dardar Jes strawberry waffle seems abit too small for the big portion of sundae.

HAPPY Birthday SIS

Sis birthday today and I have made the cake earlier at dardar place. I do not know if I remove the cake from the baking tin would it still be firm, therefore we can see that is not taken out. This is a yearly pose for sis and me during our birthday. Mimi seems to be celebrating her too :)

Have added the gelatin and strawberry today only. I do not know how much gelatin to add into the water so that it could be firm enough to hold on the candles. Can see that the firmness still acceptable though the candles abit slanted.

Already no idea what to get for sis birthday. Chanced upon this shop in Central called STICKY. Interesting shop! Confectioners demostrate the making of candy on site. They have produced 71 different designs, flavours and styles in the sticky range. I bought 4 types: LuckyRock, I love You, Happy Birthday & Rock Mix. Dardar Jes also bought other favour, seems like Kiwi Fruit Rock.

I then layered it layer by layer into the bottle I bought from Daiso.

Finally decorated the bottle with ribbon, pearls, magnet teddy bear and the girl ironed on. Final product quite nice right ?? I hope that sis can eat these candy on her exam time, study time or relaxing time ♥

Singapore Mint Lunar Fair

In the afternoon went to singapore mint fair @ Suntec with 小馬哥. Only spent 15 minutes or so there, it was so crowded. I am feelin very moody these days but was so happy to see the many many new coins and notes in the fair.

Cottage Waffle Place

I was dying for choco fondue since the last one I had in Novena. I remembered a small shop tucked in the corner of Suntec Level 3 was an ice cream + waffle shop. I liked the wite wall pasted with post it notes of creative drawings & messages and the cosy seat hidden in the corner of the shop.

I ordered the couple fondue and it was loaded with 5 delightful mini scoops of ice cream, waffles, banana and apple slices, marshmallows, a bowl of nuts and 2 glass of iced fruit tea. Yummy..Yummy..

The staff is very friendly and attentive reminding us that the choco bowl is refillable. It's a nice inexpensive place to have a sinful treat. Looking forward to go again..maybe will go to the branch in west coast plaza.

Nail Art: Nail Marbling

I am spending more and more time at Esther's shop thinking what design to paint on the nails. Since I can't keep the nail design on my fingers for very long, Esther was suggesting to try out nail marbling. The process was fast and there are many combination of nail colors that I can try but eventually I try the safe colors .. white and pink. (In fact, 3~4 nail colors make the best nail marbling).
I suggested to add a white tip (french manicure) so that it would look too plain cos this time my nails are very short. And I have added silver glitter to the marbling. For more variety extra glitz could be added to your design with rhinestones, glitter, foils, stickers, metallics, lace and more. I would pester Esther again to try other colors and add on more stuffs.

Sushi Making Day

It's wasn't part of my plan to make sushi on a lazy Sunny Sunday. Just that I have kept the ingredients in the fridge for a few day (I afraid that would cause food poisoning in the family)

Sis prepared the sushi using the traditional method, while I chose to use the short cut method (For beginner).
The short cut method is just to add rice into the half the mould and topped up with the ingredient followed by rice and pressed hard with the top mould. (The sushi would sure be nicely done and this is best for beginner)

I made cucumber & pickle onigiri (rice balls) with the mould as well. Easy and nice. The mould from Daiso also comes in cute design.

Thatda..completed. TIME TO EAT

Didn't prepare much stuff, only daikon radish pickle, egg, cucumber, crab meat stick and pre-cooked egg. Though appearance may not be as perfect but according to 小馬哥, taste is still acceptable. As usual, we couldn’t finish the sushi. Next time, I like to make california rolls and maybe bento for sis.

I like those made by Anna the red (annathered.wordpress.com). Those made by her were amazing cute.. they are so awesome that you wouldn't bear to eat them. There's japanese anime Moyashimon, Raving Rabbids, Flying Totoro, Wall-E...etc. These are only part of the collection, Jes go check it out at her blog...CUTE !!!

Busy eating on new year eve with dardar Jes since her boss able to "release" her at 12.30pm. She made a reservation at the restaurant 国府 near her office. My 1st time eating there, from the fully booked reservation can see that the food should be very nice.

The food is quite value for money. Both only sets only $12.90 nett. Variety of soup and sets choice. Many OL there eating hotpot in the sunny afternoon. Seems pretty plain right?? Thatda! Full of food in seconds ... seems delicious We have ordered mixed shrooms and pork belly set so that we can shared.
Dar Dar liked to eat instant noodle and I liked taking rice. Complimentary pumpkin cake & dessert.
Must be taken hot, crispy on the outside, soft & chewy on the inside. Izzit too early to see this in Central?? Lunar New Year or Angmoh New Year??
The lion dance is really nice though they are just rehearsing. Superb performance.

Walked past Mr Curry ... and the food seems delicious. I am going to try it next time.
Japanese fake food replicas are simply masterpieces. Beautiful scenery along Central. Such a relaxing and comfortable evening.

These are her favourite Totoro and Momiji Dolls ♥ We took dinner at the newly opened Botejyu @ Liang Court. Founded in 1946 in the gourmet city of Tamade, Osaka. Looking at the long queue .. we still decided to wait and try the okonomiyaki since it has a long history in Japan. The group have other branches in Jurong Point and Vivo City. The one in Vivo City is a 3-in-1 restaurants with Botejyu from Osaka (Central Japan), Yoshimi from Hokkaido (North Japan), and Ajisen from Kyushu (Southwest Japan).
Order the seafood omu noodles and pork okonomiyaki. Saw from the website that the flour batter made using 100% domestic flour grounded and mixed with japanese broth (shrimp, squid, bonito and kelp) and powdered skim milk. It is said to be "crispy on the outside, light and airy on the inside".
Pork Okonomiyaki with generously portion of sauce and free helping of bonito flakes. It was said that the original sauce was made from vegetable (onion, garlic, tomato), fruits (apples) over 30 types of spices into the rich worcestershire sauce. Presentation of the food was nice, waiting time was long due to dinner time, price and taste was on the average.
After dinner, we went to Meidi-Ya Supermarket. A favourite place for me ... loves the wide variety of fresh food imported directly from Japan. See what we found in the supermarket ..

We have thought that it would be fully booked for the non-motorized Mississippi steamboat replica since it is such a romantic place but ... seems like we have booked the place for the night. I love the cosy and warm atmosphere here but most couples were sitting on the open upper deck.

For the 1st time after a long time that I started to make a Birthday card for anyone. I guess with the convenience of buying a card and busy life style .. i seems to have forgotten the joy of making a card for our loved ones. Birthday is special and the best way to greet your friends and loved ones on their birthday is through birthday cards...

I use my new transparent stamp for the dog, bees, cupcakes, cakes... and then colored them with water soluble crayons. Totally in love now with the stamping and will continue making more cards and buying more stamp sets. This craft is so versatile that even sis pick it up almost instantly.

Winter Solstice (Dong Zhi)

Tang Yuan festival ( 冬至 aka Winter Solstice festival) signifies the arrival of winter. Celebrated on the longest night of the year, Dong Zhi is the day when sunshine is weakest and daylight shortest. “冬至大如年”有“小过年”之俗称 that the reason why eating tang yuan on Dong Zhi represents family reunion and harmony, and also signifies family unity and family prosperity. 小馬哥 like the frozen tang yuan (汤圆) than the home made ones cos they come in many different fillings like black sesame, red bean and peanut. I like the plain frozen tang yuan cos it taste similar as the home made ones which is plainer. I guess the best fun of 冬至 is the whole family getting involve and roll the glutinous rice dough into little balls.

I have added 2 types of sweet potate, the orange and purple ones. Really missed the Ah Balling ginger soup in Chinatown (Ah Balling Peanut Soup). Have tried a few branches, all are quite similar. $2 for a bowl with 6 glutinous balls still pretty valued for money. QQ tang yuan plus hot hot ginger soup...

New Glasses & Xmas Presents

I bought a new glasses for christmas in Func Deko @ Far East Plaza. The boys liked it and Gerald 哥哥 was more spontaneous to the new toy. Marcus 弟弟 was more camera shy.

They have no problem posing for me and even dragged along my mother & sis-in law to join in the fun.
As the boys grew older, I really don't know what presents to get for them. Should I still buy clothings, sweets & titbits, toys, books or PSP ?? After every year of toys and clothing, I think best to combine all into one, so I bought the boxes from Daiso and started filling up the content. I bought them sweets, titbits, toys, Ben 10 stationery. I guess the boys should love it ...

Nail Art: Teddy Bear + Checker French Tip

Since Christmas is nearer, thot of doing some cute stuffs for my nail art. As usual, I had a hard time deciding what to design and normally I would still ended with french tip. Just that the white tip would chipped off real fast for me so that i thot why not add on the checker print. A little flower next to the checker white tip was my final design. On the thumb I would add on two teddy bears ... Cute ?? Esther was drawing it for the 1st time, it was pretty nicely done.

Few days later, Esther modified the missing bees on the original design for another customer. Without the checker french tip, a pink french tip is quite nice too. I liked the bees with the teddy bear .. should have added it on my nails too :(

Anyway both designs are beautiful ... which one nicer dear ?

Ishi Mura @ Northpoint Extension

The interior resembled very much like a Japanese restaurant but infact it is a Japanese themed food court selling only Japanese food ranging food from Bento Sets, Ramen, Rice Burger, Japanese Pizza, Hot Stone Rice, Pasta, Okonomiyaki, Sashimi/Sushi, Omelette Rice and yakitori.

I liked the bento sets with the rice balls and sis ordered the ebi curry rice. The tempura/fried stuffs from the basement foodcourt seems nicer and tasty. I miss the eel bowl sold in the basement foodcourt. Veg omu rice from the omelette rice stall wason the average, egg was scrambled and sauce on the egg was bland. Seafood okonomiyaki was really tasty with lots of seafood, cabbage and mayonnaise. We loved the Japanese brand candies and chocolates sold in the Sashimi/Sushi stalls. The 16 pieces of maki sushi are only $2.40. Sis was saying that the sushi sold there was much cheaper and bigger portion then those sold in the basement Sushi Deli. (Anyway the sushi in sushi deli though taste nice but replenish very slow)

Shopping was more important than dinner?? Dardar Jes & me was shopping till late at Marina Square that we realised that most of the eateries were closed. Then we came across the beautifully renovated restaurant "Putien". Always wanted to try the food in the main branch in Kitchener Road but always very packed.
This is the introductory of Putien written on the receipt envelope.

Here we go ordering Spinach With Salted Egg & Century Egg In Supreme Stock, Honey Glazed Pork Ribs, Wonton Soup and Mix Fruit Dessert.
Both of us finished all the food. Great taste, heavy for a late dinner. We have to start slimming soon if we continued eating such tasty food.

1st time taking here and is quite pricey as compared. Lots of fruits and biscuits ... I love the strawsberry coated with chocolate & peanuts
